Ingredients & Preparation Time
Time Required: Approximately 6 hours
Ingredients:
A smoked, spiral-cut, fully-cooked ham
Your favorite pork rubs (we recommend Bone Sucking Sauce and Kinder's Brown Sugar Rub)
1 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce, and 1 cup Dr. Pepper
For the Glaze:
1.5 cups dark brown sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
3/4 cup honey
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup Dr. Pepper
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp chili powder
Step-by-Step Instructions
Start Smoking: Place the ham directly on the smoker rack at the smoke setting for 1 hour.
Apply the Rub: Remove the ham and coat it with your favorite pork rubs.
Smoke Again: Place the ham in a foil pan and return it to the smoker set at 225°F. Smoke for 2 hours.
Add Liquid Gold: Pour 1 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce, and 1 cup Dr. Pepper directly over the ham. Cover the pan tightly with foil.
Heat It Up: Increase the smoker temperature to 275°F and cook for 2.5–3 hours, until the ham's internal temperature reaches 140°F.
Prepare the Glaze
While the ham smokes, prepare the glaze:
Combine all glaze ingredients in a medium saucepan.
Stir continuously on medium heat until the mixture boils.
Remove from heat and let cool to a syrup-like consistency.
Final Touch
When the ham reaches 140°F:
Drain the juices from the pan.
Generously coat the ham with the prepared glaze.
Return the ham to the smoker at 400°F for 5–6 minutes, or until the glaze caramelizes.
Serve & Enjoy
Remove the ham, slice it up, and serve. This double smoked ham is bound to be the star of your meal!
